COVID-19 - UPDATE

UPDATE

We hope all families and friends are staying safe and healthy.

Thank you for your commitment to the Guelph Minor Ball Hockey League. In follow up to the previous update communicated to the membership regarding the spring league and potential summer league, the league thanks you for your continued support.

Unfortunately, as the City of Guelph facilities are presently closed and will be closed throughout the summer months the league has been unable to have a 2020 season of ball hockey. The safety and health of all the participants, staff, families, and friends are the highest priority.

Further to our previous communication, the league had offered some options and thank you in advance for the many replies.

As per previous update, the league has been able to keep your registration on file a full credit for the 2021 season, have your spot secured for 2021 and not be subjected to any 2021 price increases.

As per previous update, the league was able to cancel the registration with an email request sent to the league and a refund and cancellation of the registration being processed.

If you have your full credit in place for the 2021 season, your spot will be secured and not be subjected to any price increases. The Province of Ontario has entered stage two of the re-opening phase and potentially could enter stage three in the future. If the City of Guelph decides to open facilities prior to September and allow for small gatherings to take place, the league may be able to provide a free training clinic for those that have a full credit for 2021.

The league has created a Play Safe Manual to coincide with returning to play sports which is currently being updated and will be provided to our membership and online. The Play Safe Manual will cover all categories including Pre-Season, Pre-Game, In-Game, Post-Game and Post-Season Protocols that the league will follow ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all of the players, families, staff and officials.

There could also be a regional opportunity for players to play other centres if the health guidelines allow for those who are still registered with the league.

The league will be continuing to monitor and assess the situation, with the guidance of public health authorities and our sport’s governing authorities. The league will keep you up to date of any further changes. Updates are also posted on the league website at www.gmbhl.com and as many members are aware, the league has been committed to replying to any member inquiries in a timely manner via email.

The Guelph Minor Ball Hockey League hopes that all participants, staff and their families and friends remain healthy and safe during these difficult times.

We all miss sports but are committed to making sure the return to sports is safe for everyone involved.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and support.

UPDATE

We hope all families and friends are staying safe and healthy.

The league has been monitoring the developments of the escalating outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. In follow up to the previous updates communicated in mid-March and at the end of March, the league is providing another update for the membership.

Usually at this time of year the players are excited to begin another year of ball hockey but unfortunately during these difficult times, ball hockey activities are suspended.

The safety and health of all the participants, staff, families, and friends are the highest priority.

As everyone is aware, the 2020 season has been delayed as the City of Guelph facilities are closed along with schools which are presently closed. The league has had many members inquire about the possibility of playing in July-August if the situation improves.

Should the situation improve, and the City of Guelph decide to re-open facilities based on the recommendations of the Local Public Health Organization, the league could possibly operate a program in June-July-August this year.

The league has looked at many options and is also following the guidance of the other spring/summer sports along with the National Governing sport authorities which have also delayed the season openings for 2020. The League will be monitoring on a regular basis to keep pace with the evolving situation. If public health authorities determine that it is safe to return to public facilities, the league season could be played later in 2020. The league will provide updates and will follow the Local Public Health Organization’s recommendations.

The league is able to keep your registration on file for a potential summer season or for the 2021 season and you will have the spot secured with no increase in registration fee.

If you would like to cancel your registration with the league, please send an email to info@gmbhl.com . The league will process a refund and cancel the registration.

For those that have participated in the past and may participate in the future, the Ontario Ball Hockey Federation (OBHF) Provincial Championship Tournaments scheduled for July are still scheduled and the league is expecting more announcements from the OBHF in the future.

In the interim, the league will be continuing to monitor and assess the situation, with the guidance of public health authorities and our sport’s governing authorities. The league will keep you up to date of any further changes. Updates are also posted on the league website at www.gmbhl.com and as many members are aware, the league has been committed to replying to any member inquiries in a timely manner via email.

The Guelph Minor Ball Hockey League hopes that all participants, staff and their families and friends remain healthy and safe during this difficult time.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and support.
